Kapp’n’s Boat Tours Get a Sneaky Boost in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 Update

The update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons version 3.0 introduced a wealth of new content, with one of the standout features being a hotel on the dock managed by Kapp’n’s family. While players have uncovered many hidden aspects of this update, one significant change only becomes noticeable after diving deeper into the new content: Kapp’n now offers two Boat Tours each day instead of just one.

Kapp’n’s Boat Tours can be a treasure trove for players, especially when it comes to gathering materials. Some of the islands he visits will feel familiar, reminiscent of Nook Islands, but he also takes players to a variety of rare islands. These can feature different seasonal themes, filled with materials like cherry blossoms or mushrooms, while others might be adorned with star fragments. As the game has progressed, new currencies have emerged alongside bells and Nook Miles, with Hotel Tickets being the latest. Players earn these by helping to decorate rooms in the new hotel and completing DIY requests posted at the dock.

A Reddit user shared their experience of working at the hotel, revealing that Kapp’n offered them a second Boat Tour in one day, which could be paid for with Hotel Tickets. We decided to test this ourselves and confirmed that after completing all eight hotel room designs, including the VIP room, we were able to embark on a second tour for 100 Hotel Tickets. So far, it appears there are no additional requirements regarding the number of DIYs submitted or total Hotel Tickets earned.

While it may seem like a minor tweak, the option to take two Boat Tours could significantly impact gameplay. It doubles the chances of landing on a rare island. Even if players end up at two common islands, they still have the opportunity to gather twice the crafting materials. This feature becomes particularly advantageous after receiving a fortune from Katrina that boosts luck with belongings, which ensures a visit to a rare island. With this new ability tied to hotel progression, now is the perfect time to get creative with decorating.
