Threads Surpasses X in Mobile Usage, Yet Remains Significantly Behind Overall

After nearly three years since its debut, Meta’s Threads is reportedly pulling in more daily mobile users than its competitor, X. Recent data indicates that Threads has reached 141.5 million daily active users on iOS and Android as of January 7th, surpassing X’s 125 million users.

According to the data, Threads managed to eclipse X sometime between late October and early November, following a steady growth period. This achievement wasn’t a sudden response to recent controversies surrounding Grok. While X still leads in mobile users within the US, Threads is closing the gap, with X now having only half the daily active mobile users it had last year.

However, the web traffic landscape tells a different story. As of January 13th, X attracted 145.4 million daily web visitors, while Threads lagged significantly behind with just 8.5 million. Although Meta may have gained the upper hand in mobile usage, it still faces a significant challenge in catching up to X’s total of over 270 million daily users across platforms.
