Now’s the ideal moment for physical media fans to pick up Frieren on Blu-Ray and DVD!

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season two has finally dropped, and I’m gearing up for a re-watch of my favorite silver-haired mage’s journey. While I could easily stream the previous episodes on the Crunchyroll app via my PS5, my heart leans towards collecting physical copies of anime, a passion I’ve nurtured since the early 2000s.

Like many modern anime, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season One is split into two parts. You can snag Part 1 for $55.98, which includes a Blu-ray and DVD combo. Right now, it’s actually $14 cheaper, and for fellow collectors, it comes with a set of art cards showcasing beautiful illustrations of Frieren, Fern, Stark, and Sein. This set contains the first 16 episodes, so I’ll need to grab Season One Part 2 for another $55.98 to complete my re-watch. As someone who loves having physical copies to display, I’m all in for both parts.

Part 1 features episodes 1-16 and is packaged with both Blu-ray and DVD formats, perfect for your PS5. Plus, the art cards and stunning disc designs featuring Frieren, Fern, and Stark are a treat for any collector.

For the remaining episodes 17-28, you can pick up Part 2, which also comes with a Blu-ray and DVD combo and features eye-catching artwork of the original Hero Party, including my favorite, Himmel. This set also includes its own set of art cards.

I get that not having the entire first season in one package can be frustrating, but back in my day, we were lucky to get 2-4 episodes per VHS! Splitting seasons into two parts is pretty standard for modern anime, especially since Frieren was released in two halves during its airing on Crunchyroll. At least Part 2 is currently discounted, saving you an extra $14 if you’re in the US. Plus, it comes with its own set of gorgeous art cards, including one featuring the original Dragon King slaying party. Seriously, try looking at Himmel without getting emotional.

I haven’t picked up the UK versions of Frieren yet, which start at £29.99, but with season two now live, it’s at the top of my list for my next payday. I like to have all my favorite series physically represented on my shelf, and while I have plenty of manga, the Blu-rays are still missing next to my recent anime acquisitions like Samurai Champloo and Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.

The US versions on Crunchyroll are currently backordered, so I suspect many anime fans are eager to own season one physically, leading to a rush for these box sets. New seasons often spark increased interest, causing physical copies to sell out quickly and then pop up on resale sites at inflated prices.

To avoid falling victim to resellers, I’m definitely grabbing these physical Crunchyroll releases as soon as I can, and I recommend you do the same. Sure, streaming is convenient, but those shows won’t be available forever.

Owning a physical collection means you can watch the episodes whenever you want, without worrying about them disappearing from Crunchyroll. While the first episode of season two has already claimed the title of the highest-rated anime, it’s wise to be prepared for the future.

If your love for Frieren has been reignited and you enjoy collecting, Crunchyroll also offers a variety of merchandise, including officially licensed figures from SEGA and Good Smile Company. I’m trying to resist the allure of the Himmel figma with its real fabric cape, but it’s tough to ignore his adorable blue-haired charm.

For fellow anime enthusiasts, now’s a great time to explore the best anime series to watch and consider adding physical copies to your collection for your PS5.
