Jujutsu Kaisen Unveils Three-Minute Video to Clarify the Culling Game
Still trying to make sense of the rules in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game? The latest episode of the third season has drawn its fair share of criticism, thanks to a dense half-hour packed with flow charts, intricate rules, and unclear motivations.
Fortunately, the shonen anime has come to the rescue with a chibi-style recap that summarizes the key points of the sorcerer battle royale arc in under three minutes.
Instead of Tengen going through the Culling Game regulations, this video resembles a visual novel, trimming the excess information for a clear and concise explanation.
In essence, the malevolent sorcerer Kenjaku is forcing sorcerers to battle each other in specific zones, or ‘barriers,’ throughout Japan to generate cursed energy and merge the entire country, even transforming ordinary citizens into sorcerers for his sinister plans.
To escape this dire situation, the Jujutsu crew must recruit a sorcerer named Angel to help unlock the Prison Realm where Gojo is trapped. With Gojo’s return, they hope to put an end to the Culling Game and Kenjaku’s schemes once and for all.
If only it were that straightforward. Due to the seemingly arbitrary nature of the Culling Game, sorcerers must gather 100 points to introduce a new rule, allowing one of them to use Angel’s Cursed Technique to nullify the Prison Realm and free Gojo. Points can only be earned by eliminating sorcerers (five points) or non-sorcerers (one point).
So, that’s the current situation. Still feeling lost? Honestly, this is one of the more complex setups for an anime arc we’ve encountered in a while. At least now we have a reference to help us when our minds inevitably get tangled during Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest season.
