Arc Raiders’ New Update Takes Strong Stand Against Cheaters
Developer Embark has rolled out another cheat-fighting update for its extraction shooter, Arc Raiders, just a week after the previous one. In response to growing player frustration over rampant cheating that surged during the winter break, the studio has made it clear that tackling this issue is a top priority, and they seem to be following through. The latest patch addresses two major problems that have been ruining the experience for many: players shooting from out-of-bounds areas and those exploiting glitches to shoot through the game’s terrain. It also fixes a troublesome duplication glitch.
The previous patch, 1.11.0, adjusted the Kettle and Trigger ‘Nade weapons, significantly altering the PvP landscape while also resolving a keycard glitch. This week’s update, 1.12.0, dives deeper into the core issues. The brief patch notes may not fully convey the importance of these fixes for players frustrated by certain exploits.
While it’s unclear which specific duplication exploits have been addressed this time, some players are reporting that known issues are still present. However, the focus here is on the more pressing concerns.
Players have frequently complained about being shot through hillsides, leading to frustrating and seemingly unfair deaths during top-side missions. Although Embark mentions that this fix only covers “some cases,” it should help mitigate the more prevalent exploits that cheaters have been using.
Out-of-bounds exploits have been an even bigger problem, particularly on the Stella Montis map, where players could eliminate others while remaining essentially invulnerable. With this issue now addressed, PvP participants should enjoy a much fairer gaming environment.
As always, one of Arc Raiders’ standout features is its matchmaking system, which pairs players based on their preferred playstyle. Those who lean towards PvE are typically grouped with like-minded players, making them less likely to encounter the cheating issues that Embark is currently addressing. This update also comes alongside a stricter enforcement policy for cheaters, including new permanent bans.
