Witcher 3 Mod Introduces Online Co-Op for Friends to Explore Together

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an incredible single-player open-world RPG, often hailed as one of the best in the genre. Its richly detailed and vibrant world is an ideal setting for socializing with friends, and now, thanks to a new mod, that vision can come to life on PC.

Introducing Witcher Online, a free mod for the PC version of The Witcher 3 that enables online multiplayer for up to five players. Launched earlier this month and available on Nexus Mods, this creation by user Rejuvenate allows players to explore the game together. A trailer showcases the fun of having multiple Geralts adventuring side by side.

To dive into Witcher Online, you’ll need to download the mod and have a legitimate copy of the latest version of The Witcher 3 from either Steam or GOG.

This mod offers players the chance to customize their Geralt or even use unique player characters while enjoying the game online. You can unwind in various taverns with friends, thanks to another mod called Chill Out, which is fully compatible with Witcher Online. You and your buddies can experience the entirety of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt together. However, there are some limitations. While the mod synchronizes character animations, gear, and combat for all players, you won’t be able to assist others in battling monsters or completing quests. The mod creator suggests that players should tackle quests together and aim to complete objectives simultaneously throughout the storyline.

Ultimately, while questing is an option, Witcher Online feels more like a platform for friends to hang out in The Witcher 3’s enchanting world, enjoying the atmosphere and creating some delightful chaos. Plus, since this mod is free, it’s unlikely that the developers will take action against it, unlike their recent stance on a Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod.
