Marvel Rivals Introduces New System to Combat AFK Cosmetic Farming, Threatening Warnings and Permanent Bans

NetEase, the developer behind Marvel Rivals, is gearing up to tackle players who are taking advantage of the recently revamped proficiency system, with potential consequences that could include permanent account bans.

In a recent tweet, the company cautioned players against exploiting a long-standing issue that has become more prevalent following last week’s update. This exploit, commonly referred to as “lord farming,” involves players remaining in spawn and spamming skills to quickly accumulate proficiency points. The term “lord farming” comes from the fact that reaching maximum proficiency rewards players with the prestigious Lord icon.

“Recently, we’ve noticed that some players are exploiting matches by remaining stationary and repeatedly farming stats to gain hero proficiency points,” NetEase stated. “This behavior disrupts normal gameplay and seriously affects the match experience of other players.”

To combat this issue, NetEase plans to implement a combat behavior detection system. Players caught engaging in this exploit may face various penalties, including warnings, short-term suspensions, long-term suspensions, or even permanent bans.

While some might argue that the initial warning approach feels a bit timid, it’s reassuring to see action being taken against an exploit that has likely ruined many matches for regular players, despite claims from some that they only engage in this behavior on inactive servers.

“We ask all players to help us maintain a fair and healthy game environment,” NetEase added.
