Joffrey’s Spoilers: Game of Thrones Fans Discover He Reveals Key Plot Points in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

A few years after fans of Game of Thrones discovered that Joffrey had spoiled the ending of House of the Dragon, it turns out he’s also dropped some major hints about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

This new series, airing weekly on HBO, is based on George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight and follows the adventures of Ser Dunk the Tall and his unique squire, Egg.

Since the timeline of this show is set before Game of Thrones, characters from the original series might already know the fates of key figures in the new story. Unfortunately, Joffrey is one of those characters. Be warned, the following contains spoilers for The Hedge Knight novella, which may align with future events in the show.

In the first episode of Game of Thrones season 4, Joffrey is flipping through the White Book, a record chronicling the deeds of the Kingsguard knights. He comes across an extensive entry for Ser Duncan the Tall and remarks, “Four pages for Ser Duncan. He must have been quite the man.” Jaime Lannister responds, “So they say.”

While this might not seem like a big reveal at first, it indicates that Dunk will eventually join the Kingsguard and achieve enough notable feats to warrant four pages in the White Book. If you’ve picked up on the peculiar nature of his squire, that could hint at future plot developments.

But that’s not all Joffrey has let slip. In the same scene that hints at the outcome of the Dance of the Dragons, he mentions Aerion Targaryen, a prince who will appear later in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, portrayed by Finn Bennett.

“Over there, in that urn, the ashes of Aerion Targaryen,” Joffrey tells Margaery, his betrothed. “Aerion Brightflame, they called him. He thought drinking wildfire would turn him into a dragon. He was wrong.” Wildfire is the bright green explosive that Cersei Lannister used to destroy the Sept in Game of Thrones, and it’s also what the Mad King Aerys intended to use to incinerate King’s Landing during Robert’s Rebellion.

All of this is still to unfold, so in the meantime, stay tuned for updates on the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms release schedule, or check out our review for a spoiler-free take on the series.
