Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Breaks Ground with First Anime IMAX Screening, Offering New Experiences and Extended Scenes – Western Release Still Unconfirmed

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is set for an IMAX re-release, offering fans a “new experience” with “expanded” scenes, though it’s currently exclusive to Japan.

According to the official website for the series, Infinity Castle will hit theaters again on February 6, making history as the first anime film to be shown in a 1:43:1 aspect ratio.

This announcement highlights a truly unique experience for viewers, as the new screen ratio enhances both the horizontal and vertical dimensions, revealing additional details.

However, if you’re in Japan for the re-release, be aware that it’s only available on two screens nationwide: Tokyo’s Grand Cinema Sunshine and Osaka Expo City in, you guessed it, Osaka.

This special event could help Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle surpass its predecessor, Mugen Train, as the highest-grossing Japanese film domestically, with only a billion yen separating them.

A sequel to Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is in the works, but no release date has been set.

“We’ve announced that it will be a trilogy of movies, but our partners haven’t finalized the dates yet,” said a representative last year regarding Demon Slayer Infinity Castle 2 and 3. “There’s definitely a push from all of us to deliver more Demon Slayer to fans as quickly as possible – we understand the excitement within the fanbase.”
