“War of the Worlds Leads Razzie Nominations with a Dismal 4% on Rotten Tomatoes”

The nominations for the 2026 Razzies are out, and it’s not looking good for War of the Worlds.

This sci-fi thriller features Ice Cube as a computer security analyst who stumbles upon sinister government secrets during an alien invasion, and it’s snagged six nominations, including Worst Picture. With a dismal 4% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s not exactly shocking.

Disney’s live-action Snow White also took a hit, racking up six nominations, including Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screenplay.

Since the Razzies kicked off in 1981, they’ve faced criticism for being “mean-spirited,” “petty,” and “unfunny.” Despite calls for cancellation, the event continues.

The organization previously issued an apology for its “insensitive” nomination of Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who was only 12 at the time, and rescinded an “award” given to Bruce Willis in 2021 after his family revealed his aphasia diagnosis.

Interestingly, a few individuals have managed to snag both Oscars and Razzies in the same year. For instance, Alan Menken won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Razzie for Worst Original Song in 1993. Sandra Bullock also won Worst Actress for All About Steve in 2010, only to take home the Best Actress award for The Blind Side the very next day.

The 46th Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony is set for March 14.
