Netflix Teams Up with MAPPA for Exclusive New Anime Inspired by Jujutsu Kaisen

Netflix is joining forces with studio MAPPA to enhance its position in the global anime scene.

In a recent announcement, Netflix and MAPPA revealed a “strategic partnership” aimed at collaborating on new projects that will span from story development to merchandise. This partnership will see Netflix exclusively streaming a range of original anime titles produced by MAPPA for its global audience.

This move aligns perfectly with the fact that over half of Netflix’s viewers are tuning into anime, with viewership numbers having tripled in the past five years. Excitingly, the announcement also hinted at several new anime projects currently in the pipeline.

MAPPA is renowned for its hit anime series, including Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Ranma 1/2, and Kakegurui Twin. The studio also brought to life The Rose of Versailles, based on the classic 1972 manga, which debuted exclusively on Netflix in 2025.

“At Netflix, we appreciate the passion and commitment of creators,” stated Kaata Sakamoto, Vice President of Content – Japan at Netflix. “By merging MAPPA’s distinctive anime production style with Netflix’s global reach and willingness to take creative risks, we aim to broaden the horizons of anime. We are dedicated to delivering fresh content and excitement to fans worldwide.”
