The upcoming Batman film, The Brave and the Bold, has secured its writer, bringing back the team behind the less successful The Flash.

DC’s upcoming Batman film, The Brave and the Bold, has been in the works for quite some time, with updates coming in sporadically. However, it seems to be gaining momentum with the addition of a new writer, Christina Hodson, who is recognized by DC fans for her work on 2023’s The Flash.

This information has surfaced from an outlet, but DC has not yet made an official statement. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has been clear about his desire for polished, engaging scripts for all DC Universe projects before proceeding. Recent comments suggest that The Brave and the Bold will not begin serious development until after the release of The Batman: Part Two in 2027 to prevent any overlap.

Hodson’s hiring signals DC’s commitment to the creative team behind the controversial box office failure that marked the end of the previous DC movie era, as The Flash director Andy Muschietti has been linked to The Brave and the Bold since its announcement.

I have to admit, this news makes me a bit more skeptical about the film’s creative direction. While Muschietti has delivered some notable horror films, The Flash was a letdown. Even the return of my favorite Batman, Michael Keaton, couldn’t salvage it for me.

That said, Keaton’s appearance was definitely the highlight of a film where I struggled to find much to enjoy. Muschietti’s success in the horror genre might suggest that he and Hodson could achieve better results with a darker, more Batman-centric approach.

As of now, there’s no release date for The Brave and the Bold. In the meantime, keep an eye on all the upcoming DC movies and shows in development.
