Hytale Update 2 Introduces Skeleton Summoning, Enhanced Modding Tools, and Promises Future Magic Features

It feels almost surreal to be sharing this, but Hytale’s second post-launch update is on the horizon. The much-anticipated Minecraft-inspired RPG is now in early access, and developer Hypixel is diving right in with a host of fixes, tweaks, and new features, including the ability to summon a squad of skeletons and enhancements for modders.

Simon Collins-Laflamme, the director of Hytale and founder of Hypixel, revealed the patch notes on Twitter. The highlight? “New magic! Necromancy grimoire! Drops from Skeleton Praetorian, lets you raise up to five skeletal minions from bone piles,” which is definitely the most exciting news for players.

Your skeletal allies will stick around for five minutes or until you meet your demise, giving those tougher foes something to worry about. For modders, there’s public documentation on WorldGen V2 coming soon, along with a significant increase in ore distribution, especially in the underground areas of the Devastated Lands.

In the patch notes, players can enable the update via the launcher settings. The update includes new mask face accessories for all editions, a toggle for armor slot visibility (host-enforced for PvP/immersion), and new mouth variants like Vampire and Cute.

To ease any concerns from players going into “full panic mode,” Collins-Laflamme clarified that the grimoire is intended as a “random drop fun item,” not a complete magic system. He mentioned in a follow-up tweet, “We will have a proper mana and spell system in the future. The staves, totems, and grimoires are all basic by design; we will regroup them into a proper system later on, but for now, you get to play around with it, mod it, etc.”

Cosmetics, farming, UI, and nearly every other aspect of the blocky adventure are receiving some fine-tuning. The extensive changelist shows Hypixel’s dedication to ensuring Hytale meets the high expectations built over the past decade. This update is set to roll out this weekend, with a third update planned for a later date.

While Hytale mithril isn’t available yet, thanks to “suggestions in DMs,” endgame mining is about to get “a bit more interesting.”
