Now you can stream your TV audio directly to headphones with this new transmitter.

One of Bluetooth’s standout features has been underutilized in the tech scene, but that’s starting to change. Sennheiser has unveiled a new set of wireless headphones and a transmitter aimed at enhancing private TV viewing, both utilizing a Bluetooth feature known as Auracast. This technology allows multiple headphones, earbuds, hearing aids, and even speakers to connect to audio from the Sennheiser BTA1 digital transmitter without the usual pairing hassles, provided they are Auracast compatible.

The Sennheiser RS 275 TV Headphones bundle, priced at $299.95, will be available for preorder starting February 3rd, with shipping expected shortly after on February 17th. This bundle includes the new HDR 275 TV Headphones, which feature breathable ear cushions and a user-replaceable 50-hour rechargeable battery.

The headphones come equipped with playback and volume control buttons on the ear cups and can connect to Sennheiser’s Smart Control Plus app for EQ adjustments. They also include a noise suppression feature designed to minimize hiss and static from classic TV shows and movies, rather than blocking out nearby conversations.

Included in the bundle is the BTA1 TV Transmitter, which can also be purchased separately for $129.95. This transmitter can connect to multiple audio sources, such as TVs and consoles via HDMI, and even older devices using a 3.5mm analog audio cable. It offers various sound modes, including virtual surround sound and speech enhancement, depending on the connected source.

With a Bluetooth connection to your phone, you can adjust the transmitter’s settings, such as video delay compensation to keep audio in sync with the on-screen action, or set a password for the Auracast broadcast to prevent neighbors from tuning in. It requires power through a USB-A port, which can be supplied by a nearby TV or an adapter plugged into an outlet.

While support for Bluetooth Auracast is still growing, it is becoming more common. Headphones and earbuds from brands like JBL, Sony, and EarFun are compatible, as are certain TV models from Samsung and LG. If your TV lacks this feature, Sennheiser’s BTA1 TV Transmitter could be a straightforward solution to enhance your home theater experience with Auracast.
