Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Switch 2 Edition Launching in March with Enhanced Co-op Features and Rosalina and Luma
Take a deep breath—Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, along with the Meet Up in Bellabel Park expansion, has been officially dated and detailed. In a clever marketing move, Nintendo is set to launch this port and expansion on March 26, just a week before the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Last year, Nintendo teased the co-op-focused expansion, Meetup in Bellabel Park, but now they’ve fully unveiled it through the Nintendo Today app, complete with a vibrant trailer.
The standout feature of this expansion is the introduction of the cosmic princess Rosalina as a playable character, which ties in nicely with the upcoming film. Alongside her is Co-Star Luma, who can only be played in co-op mode. Luma assists players by collecting coins and attacking enemies without taking damage, and since it flies around the screen instead of jumping, you can even control it using the Switch 2’s mouse.
Moving to Bellabel Park, the multiplayer expansion is divided into two plazas. One plaza is dedicated to local co-op and competitive modes, featuring 17 attractions for up to four players on the same system. The other plaza supports online play for up to 12 players or local wireless play for up to eight, offering a more streamlined selection of modes.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also introduces a variety of new features, including an assist mode, a flashy new flower power-up, and mini challenges hosted by Captain Toad, like collecting a set number of coins within a time limit. All the Koopalings are making a return as well, scattered throughout the game’s already fantastic stages.
After Rosalina and Bowser Jr. appeared in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer, Chris Pratt hinted at “a couple more” character surprises, saying, “People should be excited.”
