Mario Kart World introduces team racing in Knockout Tour update
A recent update to Mario Kart World has introduced an exciting new feature to the Knockout Tour mode: team racing.
In Knockout Tour, players engage in a battle royale-style racing experience where they are gradually eliminated across expansive tracks. The last four racers to reach each checkpoint are knocked out. Previously, this mode was a free-for-all for up to 24 individual racers.
With the 1.5.0 patch for Nintendo’s Switch 2-exclusive kart racer, players can now enjoy Knockout Tour in various team configurations: two teams of 12, three teams of eight, or four teams of six. This option is available for both online and local wireless play. If you don’t have a full roster of 24 players, CPU racers will step in to fill the gaps.
The update also brings some interface enhancements, making it easier to monitor your team’s performance during races. Even eliminated players can stay engaged by cheering for their teammates in spectator mode, where they can follow the action and send preselected comments from the sidelines.
Additionally, the scoring system has been adjusted to reward finishing in the top four with significantly more points. This change emphasizes the importance of surviving until the end of Knockout Tour, as securing all final four spots guarantees victory for your team.
