Will You Choose to Embrace or Purge the Rot in Woolhaven?

In Cult of the Lamb, the choice in Woolhaven presents a pivotal moment where you must decide between two doctrines offered by Yngya after returning the last Wool to the graves. This decision allows you to either Embrace the Rot, harnessing the power of your decaying followers, or Purge the Rot, gaining strength through their demise. You can’t choose both, so which path is the better one? Let’s break it down.

Once you’ve returned Sariel’s spirit to Woolhaven and filled the graves surrounding Yngya’s statue, you’ll face the choice between the two doctrines for your cult:

Personally, I lean towards Embracing the Rot. The Rotten Followers introduced in the Woolhaven DLC are incredibly advantageous; they don’t consume resources, and when they pass away, you receive free supplies of Woolhaven Rotburn. Capitalizing on this benefit seems like a no-brainer, especially since generating a steady supply of Faith in the later stages of the game is relatively easy, which is essential for engaging with Woolhaven.

While opting for Purge can have its perks—especially if your cult focuses on sacrifice and frequent recruitment—it tends to be more effective for specific builds rather than a general strategy.
