Double Fine unveils an unexpected new title: a charming multiplayer pottery brawler.

Double Fine Productions, known for their work on Psychonauts 2, unveiled an exciting new title during the Xbox Developer Direct: a multiplayer pottery party brawler named Kiln. In this game, players will mold clay into pots, plates, and jugs, then engage in competitive online battles to extinguish the opposing team’s kiln.

Kiln is described as a celebration of both creativity and destruction, highlighting the joy of crafting beautiful items and then smashing them to bits. Players can create and customize pottery of various sizes, making strategic choices that impact gameplay. Will you opt for massive, tank-like pots or agile, small saucers to disrupt your rivals?

The game offers a range of customization options, including glazes, handles, patterns, and stickers, with more cosmetic features planned for future updates.

Tim Schafer, the founder of Double Fine, shared that Kiln originated from the studio’s annual Amnesia Fortnight initiative, where they explore innovative ideas that may evolve into full games. Previous concepts from this initiative have led to titles like Costume Quest and Spacebase DF-9, while others have inspired elements in existing games, such as Compton’s Cookout in Psychonauts 2.

Kiln is set to launch this spring and will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Players can access it through Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
