Forza Horizon 6 to Feature Over 550 Cars at Launch, Celebrating Japan’s Distinct Car Culture
Playground Games is gearing up to take the Forza Horizon series to new heights with its latest installment, set in the vibrant landscapes of Japan. Developers have promised that Forza Horizon 6 will be the franchise’s “biggest, most exciting game yet,” showcasing an authentic slice of Japan’s rich car culture. During a recent Xbox Developer Direct, the team shared exciting details about what players can expect, including a staggering lineup of over 550 cars at launch, marking the largest roster in the series to date.
In Forza Horizon 6, players will embark on a journey from tourist to competitor at the Horizon Festival, located on Legend Island, which is packed with diverse tracks and fresh areas to explore. Beyond the festival, the entire expanse of Japan is open for exploration, featuring everything from serene bamboo forests to the bustling streets of Tokyo and the snowy mountain passes in the north.
The game will beautifully capture Japan’s varied biomes and seasons, alongside iconic landmarks such as Shibuya Crossing, Ginko Avenue, and Tokyo Tower. Players will also have the opportunity to customize their own home, known as The Estate, a spacious plot of land where they can create everything from a cozy mountain retreat to a personalized track for racing with friends, all of which can be tailored in multiplayer mode.
Naturally, Forza Horizon 6 will showcase some impressive vehicles, including the 2025 GR GT Prototype, which graces the cover, and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, both reflecting the essence of Japanese automotive culture.
Player progression will be tracked through a new feature called the Collection Journal, inspired by Japan’s tradition of stamp collecting, allowing players to curate a digital collection of mementos gathered during their adventures across Japan.
Mark your calendars for May 19, when Forza Horizon 6 launches on Windows PC and Xbox Series X, and it will be available through Game Pass Ultimate. PlayStation 5 players can look forward to its arrival in 2026. Pre-orders are now open, with early access for Premium Edition players starting on May 15.
