Animal Crossing Community Buzzes with Speculation Over Possible IKEA Collaboration

Fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of a collaboration with IKEA. This speculation kicked off after a TikTok was posted on one of the Swedish furniture giant’s official accounts, showcasing the iconic furniture leaf from the beloved life simulation series.

Both New Horizons and IKEA have a history of brand partnerships, making the idea of a collaboration quite plausible. While most in-game crossovers tend to stay within the Nintendo ecosystem—like the recent Legend of Zelda-themed furniture—brands such as LEGO have also made appearances. Back in 2020, IKEA even released a catalog reimagined with an Animal Crossing twist, indicating a prior connection to the franchise. Plus, IKEA has a track record of integrating its products into video games, as seen with a dedicated DLC for The Sims 2.

The TikTok from IKEA France not only features the Animal Crossing leaf but also includes sound effects from the original game. The use of the hashtag #animalcrossing adds a layer of credibility to the post, suggesting that they are aware of Nintendo’s approval for the reference. The main question on everyone’s mind is whether a collaboration is actually in the works. A close second is what form that collaboration might take—will it be a real-world crossover or something within the game itself?

Both options are on the table, but an in-game collaboration might be the more straightforward choice for both parties. Unlike their previous statement following the 2.0 update—which turned out to be inaccurate—Nintendo hasn’t confirmed that the recent 3.0 update will be the final one for New Horizons. The game has seen updates focused on new items before, such as the Mario-themed set, so could we be on the verge of something similar? Or might we soon find Froggy Chairs gracing the aisles of IKEA? Only time will reveal the answer.
