Fortnite teams up with The Office, introducing Dwight, Michael Scott, and an iconic new emote.
When the news broke about The Office making its way into Fortnite, it was tough to picture what kind of bundle we might see. Would we get quirky versions of fan-favorite characters? A skin inspired by Dwight’s Earth Day supervillain, Recyclops? Or perhaps multiple versions of Creed Bratton? Ultimately, it looks like we’re getting the most fittingly mundane choices: Dwight Schrute and Michael Scott.
This scoop comes from a well-known Fortnite leaker who shared images of the bundle online. It makes perfect sense for The Office to feature these two guys in their suits, ready to sell paper to a lineup of Peely skins. While calling them boring might seem harsh, it’s not meant that way. If Michael and Dwight were to drop into Fortnite, this is exactly how they’d appear: a couple of awkward dorks in suits, completely out of their element.
Each skin comes with two bonus edit styles. Michael’s styles are directly inspired by memorable episodes of The Office. The first is his Blind Guy McSqueezy character, a hilariously inappropriate persona introduced in season 6, episode 7, “The Lover,” where it’s revealed that Michael is having an affair with Pam’s mom—definitely not the best move for a boss.
The second style is Date Mike, the awkward alter ego he adopts during a blind date in season 6, episode 21, “Happy Hour.” You’d be surprised to learn that this version of Michael is just as bad at dating as the others. For those curious about the details, Michael’s standard skin features him in the women’s suit he gets teased for wearing in season 3, episode “The Negotiation.”
Dwight also gets a style straight from the show. In season 5, episode “Stress Relief,” he famously wears the face of a CPR dummy over his own, a nod to The Silence of the Lambs. Now, you can embody that creepy version of Dwight. His other style is simply a variation of his original look, but with a suit jacket added. It’s a shame we won’t see Recyclops make an appearance.
The bundle is set to drop on January 23, and while the price is still under wraps, if you’re not keen on grabbing the whole set, you should definitely consider The Scarn emote. It’s arguably the best addition from The Office that could make its way into Fortnite, taken from season 7, episode “Threat Level Midnight,” where Michael forces everyone to watch his homemade movie. Honestly, it’s hard to think of a better emote in Fortnite right now—unless we finally get one featuring Urkel.
The only downside to this bundle is that we’ll never get to witness Michael and Dwight discovering they’ve been immortalized in Fortnite. That would have made for an epic cold open in an episode of The Office.
