New Mario Merchandise Features Quirky Time-Telling and Multilingual Sounds, Winning Over Fans as a $35 “Rage Bait” Gadget

Nintendo has dropped a trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder Talking Flower figurine, and fans are all about its chaotic charm.

Initially, there were concerns that the Talking Flower character might be annoying based on pre-release footage, but it turned out to be one of the game’s standout features. The random interjections are surprisingly delightful. Now, with the re-release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, new merchandise is rolling out, including Amiibo and this quirky Talking Flower for your collection.

The recent trailer showcases the Talking Flower figure and highlights its unique features. Beyond the expected talking function, it boasts some quirky personality traits. For instance, it can detect temperature and time, offering commentary on both. Thankfully, or perhaps unfortunately for some, it won’t chatter during the night.

While there’s a button to activate its talking feature, the Talking Flower has a mind of its own, speaking twice an hour. If it gets too chatty, you can hold the button to silence it, but only temporarily before it resumes its chatter. One of the funniest aspects is that it can tell you the time, but sometimes it gets it hilariously wrong, and it even throws in some phrases in different languages just for fun.

The reactions to the trailer have been overwhelmingly positive. One Twitter user remarked, “a clock that bold-face lies to you is the funniest thing ever dude why hasn’t anybody done this before.” Others chimed in, calling it “a $35 rage bait device” and noting, “This thing is completely fucking useless (affectionate).”

Despite its whimsical nature, the Talking Flower has sparked some unease among fans. One user shared a humorous concern: “When I’m eating dinner and I hear my talking flower in the other room mutter under their breath ‘I wonder what YOU taste like.'” This is actually one of the lines the Talking Flower delivers in Mario Wonder.
