Hawkeye Season 2 Faces Uncertain Future, Says Marvel Producer
It looks like while Jeremy Renner’s Avenging Archer is known for hitting his mark, a second season of Hawkeye might be one he misses.
Initially, there were plans to bring Clint Barton back, but Renner hesitated due to salary concerns. Fast forward to November 2025, and the actor shared his excitement about reprising his role as the hero he’s embodied since 2011, though he noted, “it’s not really my decision to make.” Recently, in an interview, Andrew Guest, a former producer of the show and now the showrunner for the upcoming series Wonder Man, shed some light on the behind-the-scenes situation.
“There was talk at a certain point about… we did explore creatively what Season 2 of ‘Hawkeye’ might be if we were able to do it. Unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out in terms of Marvel and all the various pieces that need to come together, but I loved working on ‘Hawkeye.’ I think [Jeremy] Renner and Hailee Steinfeld are so terrific together, and I would love to see more of those two.”
While it seems challenging to get Barton back on our screens, it’s wise not to completely rule out his return in the MCU. Although Renner’s name didn’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday, there’s still a chance he could show up in that film or in the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, especially with so many beloved characters making a comeback.
As for the MCU’s next big televised venture, keep an eye out for Wonder Man, set to hit Disney+ on January 27.
