Monarch: Legacy of Monsters producer teases an “exciting” new Titan in season 2 that offers a fresh experience.
One producer from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has hinted at the arrival of the new Titan X in season 2.
If you’re as hyped as we are for the next chapter of Apple’s Godzilla spin-off, you might not need any extra motivation. However, producer Tory Tunnell’s comments could make you wish you could fast-forward through time.
“It’s incredibly thrilling to introduce a new monster, and with [VFX supervisor] Sean [Konrad’s] collaboration, it feels dynamic and fresh—something we haven’t encountered before,” Tunnell shared about the new Titan.
We’ve already caught a glimpse of Titan X in promotional materials: a deep-sea creature boasting striking blue eyes and hook-like tentacles that could pose a serious challenge to Godzilla and Kong, who made a brief appearance in a Skull Island cameo at the end of the first season.
The design of this Southern Hemisphere Titan was inspired by discussions with Konrad, who draws from real-life deep-sea creatures.
“Sean often invites us on [Zoom calls] to explore actual species,” Tunnell explains. “You think you know the creatures that inhabit our planet, and then Sean shows you something that leaves you in awe, thinking, ‘Wait, that’s real? Where can I find that?'”
She adds, “We aim to ground these new Titans in reality, dedicating time to ensure their movements and characteristics make sense, and that the entire concept is cohesive. We’re also aligning it thematically with the show’s direction. There are extensive discussions that contribute to this process.”
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, featuring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, and Anna Sawai, premieres on Apple TV on February 27.
