Old School RuneScape’s 2026 roadmap features a long-awaited raid, new Sailing expansions, and the conclusion of a questline that started 21 years ago.
Following the launch of Old School RuneScape’s inaugural new skill, Sailing, the developers have unveiled an exciting lineup of content set to arrive in 2026. This includes fresh updates to beloved events and a highly anticipated raid.
During their winter summit showcase, the developers highlighted Sailing as a key focus for the year, complete with its own mini roadmap. In the spring, players can expect enhancements to boat combat. Summer will bring a more extensive Sailing combat update, the second quest in the Tortugan series, and a player-created island. As fall approaches, another sequel quest tied to an “existing storyline” will be introduced, along with a new Barracuda Trial to enhance Sailing training. Looking ahead, there’s a hint of a “sea expansion” that will introduce new waters to explore.
The first major event on the roadmap is Deadman Annihilation, a revamped version of the MMO’s PvP free-for-all mode, running until February 21. This iteration will include new “sigils, chests, and breaches,” and notably, it will not feature the bank keys that previously changed the game dynamics.
In June, players can look forward to the official Deadman: Allstars tournament, showcasing a lineup of OSRS content creators and PvP specialists. This event will be significant as it marks the first time an Old School RuneScape event is held outside the UK, reflecting the game’s ongoing growth and success.
April will see the return of the limited-time PvE mode, Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts. Players can anticipate the comeback of enhanced Echo bosses, new tasks and relics to diversify progression and builds, along with “reimagined” combat masteries for top-tier players.
The annual Summer Sweep Up will address player-suggested issues and explore untapped potential, coinciding with the summer release of Blood Moon Rises, a rare Grandmaster-tier quest that concludes the Myreque storyline, which began back in 2005 with In Search of the Myreque.
As fall approaches, the developers plan to introduce grid functionality for “bingo events,” following the compact Grid Master community event from fall 2025. This event took challenges and bonuses similar to Leagues, condensed them, and organized them on a grid, allowing players to unlock powerful bonuses by completing rows of tasks.
For many players, the highlight will likely be the new raid, The Fractured Archive, set to launch this winter. The developers have stated it will be “Old School’s toughest raid yet,” surpassing the challenges of 2022’s Tombs of Amascut, 2018’s Theatre of Blood, and 2017’s Chambers of Xeric. Rewards for this fourth raid will be polled later this year, so players can start speculating on what new top-tier items might be introduced.
On the PvE front, both free-to-play and membership players can look forward to the game jam-inspired cow boss, Brutus, marking the arrival of RuneScape’s very own cow level.
In a separate note, a former MMO developer has been accused of hacking 68 players to steal in-game gold valued at over $700,000, which was then sold for Bitcoin. A UK court has ruled that this in-game gold is legally considered “property” and can be stolen.
