Baldur’s Gate 3 Modder Revives Over 100 Conversations and 1,000 Voiced Lines from Early Access
A modder has successfully revived some of the early access content from Baldur’s Gate 3, adding back over 1,000 lines of dialogue.
As noted by an outlet, a modder known as HyperspaceTowel, who has previously released early access content in stages, has launched the “Early Access Scenes Restored” mod. This mod reintroduces scenes, encounters, and NPCs that were omitted from the final version of the 2023 RPG. It features “over 100 conversations and more than 1,000 lines of voiced dialogue” along with restored interactions from companions and NPCs, including the seashell kid.
However, this restoration isn’t exhaustive. HyperspaceTowel clarifies that “Early Access Scenes Restored injects content into the game that (IMO) still fits into the full release story (so no Early Access Karlach, Wyll, Dream Visitor, etc.).” The mod also adds new scenes for Wyll and Karlach to align with the increased dialogue from other characters, ensuring that all added lines are sourced from the full release, avoiding any AI-generated content.
Some scenes, like Astarion’s Nightmare and a Hermit Crab Quest, didn’t make the cut as they “no longer fit neatly in the current game due to rewrites, recasting, etc.” However, HyperspaceTowel has previously created mods for these scenes, so players can still experience Astarion’s nightmare or the crab quest if they wish.
Looking ahead, HyperspaceTowel has plans for more updates, including “Thralls on the Nautiloid,” “More Wyll and Karlach reactivity,” and “More voiced dialogue for Tav.” There are some known bugs, such as Gale’s beard appearing odd when he speaks the early access lines, but there’s a fix available for that issue.
