World of Warcraft’s Midnight pre-patch launches with a host of bugs, unleashing dragons in the skies and transforming hills into mushy gray masses: “I just hope they aim for improvement this time.”
Blizzard has just rolled out the pre-patch for the highly anticipated Midnight expansion of World of Warcraft, and as expected, it’s crawling with a mix of bugs—some major, some minor, and some just plain bizarre.
For many players, the chaotic nature of WoW’s pre-patches is like a familiar quirk of a beloved friend; imperfections are part of the charm. Blizzard is actively keeping tabs on the known issues with the Midnight pre-patch, but this time around, the list is extensive.
For instance, players have noticed that the usually picturesque green hills of Nagrand have inexplicably transformed into a bizarre gray sludge. Meanwhile, dragons have taken to the skies over the Eastern Kingdoms in alarming numbers, and adventurers are reporting a seemingly endless array of broken quests, a malfunctioning user interface, and issues with the transmog customization feature.
This has sparked some trust issues within the community. One player on Reddit lamented, “the state of the pre-patch is not a good look for Midnight,” while others chimed in with sarcastic remarks like, “first time?” However, not everyone finds this latest round of pre-patch chaos amusing.
One frustrated commenter expressed, “‘FIRST TIME? DUR DUR DUR ARE YOU NEW HERE? DUR DUR DUR.’ I’ve been playing since 2004, and I just expect them to try and do better for once.”
The full Midnight expansion, which promises the long-awaited player housing feature, is set to launch on March 2.
According to the MMO’s production director, World of Warcraft Midnight “brought me to the verge of tears,” and it’s not just “our best expansion ever,” but potentially one of the most significant in the last decade.
