Wonder Man’s Film Playfully Jabs at Speculated Length of Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel seems to be having a bit of fun with the recent buzz surrounding the rumored epic runtime of Avengers: Doomsday, thanks to the new Disney Plus series, Wonder Man.

The internet has been abuzz with claims that Avengers: Doomsday could clock in at an astonishing three hours and 45 minutes, potentially making it the longest film in the MCU. In a cheeky move, Marvel Studios’ official Twitter account shared an old ticket for the fictional superhero film Wonder Man, along with a theater booking screen for its remake. As noted by fans, the booking screen indicates that the new Wonder Man film also has a runtime of 225 minutes, which is exactly 3 hours and 45 minutes. Coincidentally, the ticket price of $3.75 aligns perfectly with the runtime—225 minutes translates to 3.75 hours.

Now, whether this is Marvel’s clever way of hinting that Doomsday’s runtime is indeed a hefty 3 hours and 45 minutes, or if it’s simply a playful nod to the rumors, remains to be seen.

In the new series, Wonder Man follows Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is eager to star in a reboot of the superhero film he adored as a child. The twist? Simon has superpowers of his own, but Hollywood has put a ban on them.

The show has received positive feedback so far, with reviews praising its unique take. One review highlights that “Wonder Man stands apart from the rest of the MCU as a warm and witty buddy comedy set against the backdrop of Hollywood. Low on superpowers, but full of charm, it uses this universe to tell a touching story of two outsiders striving to chase their dreams against all odds.”

Wonder Man is set to premiere on January 27 in the US and January 28 in the UK.
