Lego’s Sauron’s Helmet is impressive, but I’m craving more book nook designs.

The Dark Lord is set to cast a shadow over your collection with the upcoming Lego Sauron’s Helmet set.

This 538-piece kit brings to life the menacing armor from The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. It includes a display stand and a minifigure of Middle-earth’s ultimate villain, offering a more affordable way to snag this character, previously only available in the Barad-dur model.

Sauron’s Helmet | $69.99 Available March 1, 2026 – This latest Lord of the Rings Lego set captures the Dark Lord’s iconic helmet from Fellowship of the Ring. Designed for adult fans, it’s priced lower than many other kits in the lineup and consists of around 530 pieces. Standing at 13 inches (33 cm) tall, it won’t overwhelm your display space—unlike Sauron, who relishes in dominating the free world.

While the helmet looks impressive, I have to admit I’d lean towards more book nooks instead. The helmet is crafted beautifully, and I’m curious if this will lead to a full series like the Star Wars helmets. However, I see a lot of potential in the new book nook range. These have become some of the best Lego sets in recent years, packing incredible detail and iconic scenes into a compact, display-friendly format. I wasn’t as thrilled with the Lord of the Rings set featuring Gandalf’s battle with the Balrog; it could have used a bit more scenery on the back and sides. In contrast, the Harry Potter Platform 9¾ and Baker Street from Sherlock Holmes are exceptionally well done.

With so many iconic moments from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, there’s a treasure trove of scenes to explore. Think of Gandalf arriving at Bag End, the Fellowship bracing for a goblin ambush in the Mines of Moria, the Ringwraiths attacking Weathertop, or the coronation scene from Return of the King. The possibilities are endless.
