Wonder Man showrunner assures fans that a key Disney actor is still alive and hints at their return for a potential season 2.
Wonder Man has a knack for poking fun at Hollywood’s glitz, but in a surprising mid-season twist, it appears to have taken out a real-life Disney icon to illustrate why superpowered actors might not be the best fit on set. Interestingly, the actor’s fate isn’t as grim as it initially seemed.
Spoilers for Wonder Man ahead.
In the fourth episode, we follow DeMar Davis, also known as Doorman, who unexpectedly gains the ability to create a dark void within himself that allows people and objects to pass through him.
As he navigates his way to becoming a D-list actor, Davis uses his powers heroically to save a nightclub full of patrons—including Frozen’s Josh Gad—from a raging fire.
However, things take a dark turn when Gad’s character jumps through Doorman and seemingly vanishes during their collaboration in the fictional sequel, Cash Grab 2.
So, is he gone for good? According to showrunner Andrew Guest, “Josh Gad is alive and inside Doorman currently.”
He further promised, “If we get a season 2, my commitment is to get Josh Gad out of Doorman and back into the world.”
Guest even hinted that the next season could see Gad returning with Doorman’s powers himself. “It has occurred to me that maybe Josh Gad would have Doorman powers after having been inside him for so long. Maybe Josh Gad becomes the new Doorman.”
