Jason Momoa believes his debut as Lobo in Supergirl shows he was destined for the role, though his future in the DC Universe remains uncertain.

Jason Momoa radiates confidence, and his enthusiasm for stepping into the role of the DCU anti-hero Lobo is sure to grab your attention.

Lobo is making his debut in this year’s *Supergirl*, where he’ll share the screen with Milly Alcock, who plays Kara Zor-El. This cigar-chomping, motorcycle-riding character is expected to leave a lasting impression right from his first moments on screen.

“I’m super pumped. It felt just awesome [playing Lobo],” Momoa shared. “My first scene in [Supergirl] is like, ‘I’m freaking born to do this.’ There are a lot of great actors out there, but once I hit that press tour, [you’ll see] ‘My first shot was this. Could you do this?'”

While Momoa is clearly confident in his fit for the role—and has even reached out to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn about playing Lobo—he acknowledges that there’s no extensive DCU plan laid out for the character just yet.

“I only know Lobo’s in this one, and so we’ll see what the future holds. I would love for him to have his own project,” Momoa mentioned in another interview.

*Supergirl* is set to soar into theaters on June 26, 2026, nearly a year after Superman kicked off the DCU in cinemas, with a focus on showcasing that not every female superhero needs to be “perfect.”

Fans can catch a glimpse of Lobo in a fresh clip from *Supergirl* that was released last week.
