PlayVS Expands Its Reach with Vanta Esports Acquisition

North American esports organization PlayVS has recently acquired Vanta Esports, a platform dedicated to youth esports development, though the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

With this acquisition, PlayVS aims to integrate an additional 3,000 K–12 schools into its network, further solidifying its status as a leading force in the competitive gaming and education landscape. The company plans to implement Vanta’s youth-safe, COPPA-compliant esports platform throughout its ecosystem, enhancing organized competition, expert coaching, educator support, and clear pathways for student growth and development.

“Vanta has created an outstanding, education-centric platform focused on coaching, mentorship, and safe competition,” stated Jon Chapman, CEO of PlayVS. “By merging our organizations, we can broaden access for more students, offer enhanced support for educators, and better serve schools and communities across the nation. Our goal has always been to harness the positive aspects of gaming, such as teamwork, leadership, confidence, and problem-solving, and this expansion enables us to amplify that impact significantly.”

For those unfamiliar, Vanta Esports operates on a coaching-led model that connects young players with trained and vetted esports coaches, who guide team practices and individual sessions centered on strategy, teamwork, communication, and comprehensive skill development.

This acquisition comes on the heels of PlayVS launching its North American collegiate esports league, the PlayVS College League (PCL), in July. This move follows several significant acquisitions in the collegiate and scholastic esports sectors in April, including Generation Esports, which oversees the High School Esports League (HSEL) and Middle School Esports League (MSEL), as well as Playfly Esports, a division of Playfly.

While many celebrate this acquisition as a step toward creating a more sustainable environment for scholastic, collegiate, and grassroots esports, some express concerns that it limits options for groups that previously relied on Vanta’s offerings. For instance, Davin Jackson, CEO of Atlanta-based Alpha Esports & Technology, highlighted the direct impact of this deal on his community via social media.
