Ubisoft Reacts to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Remake Leak with Iconic GTA San Andreas Meme
The gaming world is full of secrets, but it’s not every day that an unannounced title gets leaked to the point where even the developer feels the need to address the buzz. With the chatter surrounding the remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag reaching a fever pitch, Ubisoft has finally decided to drop the act, responding to the latest speculation with a playful meme from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Recently, a figure of Edward Kenway, seemingly linked to the upcoming Black Flag remake, started circulating online, quickly catching the attention of the Assassin’s Creed community on Twitter. In response, the official series account shared a screenshot of CJ’s iconic line, “ah shit, here we go again,” from the opening of GTA: San Andreas.
While concrete details about the Black Flag remake remain scarce, a PEGI leak hints that its official title might be Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. One of the more bizarre leaks occurred last summer when figure manufacturer PureArts, seemingly unaware of the game’s unannounced status, began discussing an upcoming Kenway figure during a livestream.
The figure in question appears to be the same one that prompted Ubisoft’s recent response. It first surfaced on Vinted, a popular second-hand marketplace in Europe, where content creator Ubicypher reached out to the seller for proof that it was indeed made by PureArts.
Reportedly, the figure sold for around €400 (approximately $480 USD), and the listing has since been taken down—definitely not a bad price for what seems to be an unreleased collectible from a game that hasn’t been officially announced yet.
Rumors have indicated that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced was set to launch soon, but it has reportedly been caught up in the wave of delays that have accompanied Ubisoft’s recent “major reset.” Hopefully, it won’t be long before we get to see it in action, though recent history suggests that delayed Ubisoft remakes often face a rocky road.
And hey, I might not even agree with the current ranking of the best Assassin’s Creed games, so I’m sure you, dear reader, will have your own thoughts to share.
