Fallout fans speculate that Thaddeus could become one of the series’ most formidable foes.
Fallout season 2 is wrapping up, and until now, many fans believed Thaddeus was on the path to becoming a ghoul. However, episode 7 has introduced a wild new theory about his transformation that’s sure to intrigue those familiar with the franchise.
In the episode titled ‘The Handoff,’ which premiered on Prime Video on January 27, we get a deeper look into Steph’s past in American-occupied Canada before the war, alongside her true identity. Meanwhile, Maximus, Thaddeus, and the Ghoul are trying to rescue Lucy from her manipulative father, Hank, in 2077. As they prepare for a showdown with a horde of Deathclaws, Thaddeus’s right arm unexpectedly falls off, exposing a gangrenous and necrotic shoulder.
In the Fallout universe, ghouls are known for losing limbs, as seen with Walton Goggins’ beloved character. But with Thaddeus also sprouting a strange mouth at the base of his neck, it’s not too far-fetched to speculate that Johnny Pemberton’s character could be morphing into a centaur.
One viewer on Twitter remarked, “Gotta be the worst fate fr,” while another added, “My poor baby about to become one of the ugliest mutants in the wasteland.” A third chimed in, “I was scared he would be a super mutant at first, but god this is so much worse and being a centaur looks painful.” Another fan expressed their unwavering support, saying, “Thaddeus, I will love you no matter what may happen in the future,” referencing the iconic centaur from the games who is also missing an arm.
In the Fallout games, players encounter both one-headed and two-headed centaurs, with the former often featuring tooth-like structures across their bodies, similar to what Thaddeus displayed in Freeside. These creatures are believed to be the result of The Master’s experiments, merging humans, dogs, and other animals after exposure to the Forced Evolutionary Virus.
Typically found in New California and the Mojave Wasteland, centaurs can unleash deadly radiation and attack with their three-pronged tongues.
While the centaur theory is intriguing, not everyone is convinced. One skeptic tweeted, “I’m kinda upset because it just doesn’t make sense lorewise unless it has something to do with him interacting with Dogmeat and possibly getting some of her DNA. Centaurs are only really made using multiple creatures, so idk how they’re gonna make this work.”
The season finale of Fallout is set for February 3, so be sure to catch the conclusion of this thrilling saga.
