Official Resident Evil Requiem SD Card Discovered for Switch 2

Resident Evil 9 Requiem is set to launch with its very own exclusive Switch 2 microSD Express Card, marking it as just the second card to showcase some game art for the Switch 2. This time, the card comes from Powin, not Samsung, and features the iconic Umbrella Corporation logo prominently displayed.

While Powin hasn’t officially unveiled the new Switch 2 SD card, it was first spotted on an online retailer known for gaming imports. The limited details available indicate that it offers 512GB of storage and is expected to ship on February 27, 2026, aligning with the game’s release.

The product description highlights the card as a “dream item for gamers,” boasting ultra-fast performance and a unique design. As a long-time fan of the Resident Evil series, I can definitely appreciate that. Unlike the officially licensed Nintendo Switch 2 microSD card from Samsung, which has a full wrap design, this card features the Umbrella logo subtly placed beneath the ‘Powin’ branding, giving it a sleek look.

Once you insert the card into your Nintendo handheld, it won’t be visible anyway, so aesthetics aren’t the main concern. However, with “Resident Evil Requiem Special Edition” in the title, fans expect a design that reflects the series, and the Umbrella logo fits the bill. Personally, I would have loved to see Leon’s face on it, but that’s just my preference.

According to the retailer, the card boasts read and write speeds of 900 MB/s and 700 MB/s, which should be more than sufficient for running Resident Evil 9 Requiem. The Samsung Nintendo Switch 2 MicroSD Express Card has advertised speeds of up to 800 MB/s, and in my own tests, it loaded the 21.9 GB Mario Kart World in just 22 seconds.

With the new Resident Evil game expected to require 29.8GB, the speeds and 512GB storage should be ample. However, since Requiem is a game-key card, you’ll need to ensure you have enough free space to install the game, as it won’t be fully contained on the card even if you opt for the physical version.

You’re not limited to this officially licensed card, though. There are plenty of 512GB microSD Express Cards available since the Switch 2’s launch, many of which have seen discounts and lack hidden licensing fees. If you’re a Resident Evil collector, you can snag this card for $139.99 at the retailer or keep an eye out for it at US and UK stores if you prefer to shop elsewhere.

As a Taiwanese storage manufacturer, this Powin accessory may primarily be available through import sites. However, if you’re eager for more Resident Evil gear for the Switch 2, you can still find the Switch 2 Pro Controller in stock, along with an amiibo on the horizon to look forward to.
