Exciting New Single-Player Mega-Dungeons, Labyrinths, Arrive in World of Warcraft
In Thursday’s State of Azeroth stream, Blizzard unveiled the 2026 content roadmap for World of Warcraft, giving players a glimpse of what lies ahead after the launch of the Midnight expansion on March 3.
One of the standout announcements is the introduction of a new content type: Labyrinths. These will be an expanded version of delves, the engaging solo dungeons that debuted in the previous expansion, The War Within. Game director Ion Hazzikostas noted that Labyrinths draw inspiration from “mega-dungeons,” the expansive, multi-winged multiplayer dungeons that have been a staple of WoW since the original Dire Maul.
Labyrinths are set to arrive with the 12.1.5 patch in fall 2026. Here’s the complete roadmap for the year:
It looks like a packed year for modern WoW following Midnight. The expansion launch will be succeeded by two minor updates in the spring, which will continue the Midnight storyline with increasing void assaults, introduce a fun hide-and-seek game called Prop Hunt, and feature a standalone single-boss raid as part of an experimental push towards smaller, more frequent raid formats.
The major 12.1, season 2 patch will roll out in summer, bringing a new zone, raid, dungeon, delves, and a housing update. Between BlizzCon in September and the year’s end, players can expect Labyrinths, another raid, and a new standalone event mode from WoW’s innovative live team, known for creating the Remix and Plunderstorm modes.
On the World of Warcraft Classic front, things seem a bit quieter for now. Anniversary servers will launch the Burning Crusade expansion in February, followed by updates throughout the year. Mists of Pandaria Classic will cover the expansion’s final phases, culminating in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid during spring and summer.
While Blizzard didn’t announce any new content for Classic to fill the gap left by the popular but currently static Hardcore and Season of Discovery, executive producer Holly Longdale hinted that more is on the way. “That’s not all we’re cooking up,” she stated. “I can say with confidence that all Classic players across the globe have a lot to look forward to.”
Before all this unfolds, players have the opportunity to try out (or return to) World of Warcraft for free this weekend. The Welcome Back Weekend runs from now until Sunday, Feb. 1.
