A Guide to Co-op Gameplay in No Rest For The Wicked

No Rest For The Wicked has introduced co-op gameplay with the major “Together” update, allowing you to team up with friends in the challenging lands of Isola Sacra. You can now create a Realm and embark on epic adventures with up to three friends, battling through nightmarish foes. However, if you’re just starting out, you might be wondering where the co-op option is hiding in the main menu. Let’s break down how to get your multiplayer experience rolling.

1. From the title screen, look for the “Realms” option. Click on it, then select “Create Realm” at the top. In No Rest For The Wicked, a “Realm” is essentially your campaign, so creating one is like starting a new save file.

2. Give your Realm a name that won’t make you cringe in front of your friends (unless that’s your goal, no judgment here). Choose your difficulty level (you can adjust this later in-game, so no stress), and hit “Create Realm” at the bottom.

3. Once your Realm is created, select it and choose the “Share” option. Confirm the prompt that appears, and you’ll be taken to a screen where you can invite your Steam friends who also own the game. Keep in mind, you can’t join random players’ games.

4. Your Realm will now show up in your friends’ “Realms” menus. Each friend needs to select the new Realm and hit “Accept” on the pop-up. Now everyone can dive into the adventure whenever they want!

After completing these steps, your multiplayer Realm will be accessible for you and your invited friends at any time. Even if the Realm creator is offline, the game remains playable. Players can use any of their created characters in this Realm, so if everyone wants to bring their solo characters into the multiplayer mix, they can do that.

Currently, couch co-op isn’t an option, meaning each player needs their own copy of the game.

It’s worth noting that players can progress the main story even if not everyone is online, which might leave some players a bit lost if they weren’t present. Additionally, friendly fire is enabled, so communication and coordination with your friends are key. This is all part of “the Wicked way,” as described by the developers, so make sure to invite only those you trust.

Lastly, No Rest For The Wicked adjusts its difficulty based on how close players are to one another. Enemies will become tougher and more numerous when players are together, but if two players are in different areas, they won’t face the same heightened challenge. So, no matter your playstyle or who you team up with, enjoy your adventures in No Rest For The Wicked!
