Complete Guide to Borderlands 4 Shift Codes and Redemption Process
Borderlands has been keeping the Shift code tradition alive since its inception, and Borderlands 4 is no exception. Vault Hunters have been spotting new codes on various social media platforms, and a fresh batch of Shift codes has already emerged since the game’s launch.
As of January 30, 2026, a new Shift code has been discovered in the latest patch notes for Borderlands 4. This code serves as a substitute for the “Gourd Your Loins” cosmetic, in case the previous one didn’t work for you. However, if you successfully claimed the cosmetic before, this new code won’t provide any additional rewards.

Interestingly, the first Shift code can be found at the end of the Borderlands 4 credits. Stick around until the very end, and you’ll be greeted with a thank you message from the developers, along with a Shift code as a bonus.
Typically, Shift codes grant you Golden Keys, which can be used to unlock special chests located in Belton’s Bore, The Launchpad, Carcadia, or The Lockaway for a chance at legendary loot. You can check your Golden Key count in the currency section of your inventory.
In addition to the usual codes, there’s a unique way to snag a Shift code for Borderlands 4. If you already have a Shift account, you’ll need to tweak some settings, or if you don’t have one yet, signing up will get you the Hazard Pay weapon skin.

For those with a Shift account, log in and look for the blue banner featuring the Hazard Pay weapon skin in your account section. If you’re new to Shift, register for free and then head back to the account page.
Select Profile, scroll down to User Preferences, and choose the first option: “I would like to receive news and promotional messages from 2K and its affiliates.” There should be a note indicating that you’ll also receive the Hazard Pay cosmetic when you play Borderlands 4.
After that, click Update Preferences, and the note about the Hazard Pay skin will vanish. The new blue banner at the top will confirm that you’ll receive the weapon skin as long as you link your gaming platform to the same Shift account. Make sure your Steam, Epic Games, or Xbox Live accounts are correctly linked under Gaming Platforms.
Keep in mind that the Hazard Pay weapon skin won’t automatically appear in your inventory. You’ll need to log into Borderlands 4 with your Shift account to trigger the code email, then redeem it through the in-game menu or the official site.
Gearbox has also confirmed that their official newsletter is a reliable source for Borderlands 4 Shift codes, stating that “those who stay subscribed are sure to reap additional rewards.”
Other sources for Shift codes include Randy Pitchford’s social media and the official Borderlands accounts. Gearbox has been known to hide codes in places like concept art or trailers, which are often later confirmed by their social media.

The process for redeeming Shift codes in Borderlands 4 remains consistent with previous titles. You can redeem codes either in-game or via the website, so be sure to act quickly to secure any limited-time rewards.
Here’s what you need to do:
You can also redeem Borderlands 4 codes in-game by opening the Rewards tab and using the Shift menu.
