Jeffrey Epstein Permanently Banned from Xbox Live
Would you be surprised to find out that Microsoft removed Jeffrey Epstein from its online gaming service? According to recent emails, it turns out that in December 2013, he was “permanently suspended due to harassment, threats, and/or abuse of other players.” However, the underlying reason seems to be more straightforward: another email from Microsoft on the same day indicates he was banned because he was a registered sex offender, aligning with the company’s commitment to eliminate registered sex offenders from their platforms.
While Epstein had been a registered sex offender for several years, it appears he may not have joined Xbox Live until October 2012. Microsoft had already committed to New York state’s initiative to remove sex offenders from online platforms where they could potentially interact with children back in April 2012, suggesting that his account remained active for over a year before the ban.
It’s uncertain whether Epstein actually used Xbox himself. In July 2014, he inquired with his executive assistant about the availability of an Xbox 360 Kinect, and in 2016, there was an email discussing the purchase of an Xbox as a surprise birthday gift for a child. Additionally, a message from 2019 questioned a charge of $25.24 on Xbox.
