In 2025, Stranger Things is dethroned by a kids’ show as the year’s most-watched series on Netflix.

One of the most popular series in streaming history wrapped up on New Year’s Eve, dominating the winter viewing landscape. However, in an unexpected twist, Stranger Things did not claim the title of the most-streamed show of 2025.

According to Nielsen, the top spot for viewership across all streaming platforms went to the animated children’s series Bluey. This charming show follows a Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey and her younger sister, Bingo, as they embark on various adventures. With an impressive 45.2 billion minutes watched on Disney+, this achievement is remarkable, especially considering each episode runs for about 8 minutes, suggesting that kids likely enjoyed multiple viewings.

Following Bluey, Grey’s Anatomy secured the second position with 40.9 billion minutes viewed on Netflix and Hulu, while Stranger Things came in third with 40 billion minutes on Netflix. Other notable shows in the top 10 include NCIS, SpongeBob SquarePants, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Big Bang Theory, Law & Order: SVU, and Criminal Minds.

The fifth season of Stranger Things concluded the beloved sci-fi series in December 2025, marking nearly a decade on the platform. The show’s inability to top the streaming charts may be attributed to its rewatchability factor. While many fans likely revisited the first four seasons before diving into the final season, the intense and dramatic nature of the series doesn’t lend itself to casual viewing, especially while multitasking on a phone.

Despite not taking the top spot, Stranger Things still made a significant impact, ranking third on Nielsen’s list. Season 5 became Netflix’s fourth most-watched English-language season ever, amassing over 123 million views within its first 91 days. Season 4 holds the record just ahead with over 140 million views, but season 5 still has the potential to catch up.

The entire Stranger Things series is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
