Crunchyroll Raises Subscription Prices

If you missed out on snagging a Crunchyroll subscription during the Black Friday sale, there’s some unfortunate news for anime enthusiasts: the prices have officially increased. Starting now, Crunchyroll is raising the monthly fees for its Fan, Mega, and Ultimate subscriptions by $2. The Fan tier will now cost $9.99 instead of $7.99, the Mega tier will rise from $11.99 to $13.99, and the Ultimate tier will go from $15.99 to $17.99 per month. These new rates will be reflected in the billing cycle following March 4.

For a limited time, current members can upgrade to the Fan Annual Plan for $66.99 per year, which breaks down to about $5.58 per month. This marks the first price hike for the U.S. Fan tier since 2019. The last adjustments before this increase occurred in May 2024, affecting the Mega Fan and Ultimate tiers.

The Fan tier provides offline downloads on a single device and a 5% discount on select Crunchyroll Store items in the U.S., Canada, and certain EMEA regions. The Mega Fan tier allows streaming on up to four devices, offline HD downloads, full access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, and enhanced store benefits, including a 10% discount on select products, exclusive deals for members, early access to sales, and free shipping on U.S. orders over $50 in eligible areas.

The Ultimate Fan tier expands on these features, offering streaming on up to six devices, offline HD downloads, access to hundreds of manga titles through Crunchyroll Manga in the U.S. and Canada, the Game Vault, a 15% discount on select store items with free shipping in eligible regions, and a special swag bag after 12 consecutive months of subscription.

While Crunchyroll has a history of removing shows from its platform without warning, it has made significant improvements since its launch in 2008. The app is now more accessible, even on commercial airlines. The video player includes features that let viewers skip opening and closing credits, and multiple user profiles can be created to help avoid accidental spoilers when sharing an account.
