Alan Wake 2: Find All Stash Locations, Codes, and Solutions
There are 22 stash locations in Alan Wake 2, each featuring a unique code or puzzle to unlock them. I’ve pinpointed all their spots and cracked the combinations, so you can access them without any hassle. These cult stashes are packed with supplies that will aid Saga throughout her journey, including valuable items like weapons and inventory upgrades. However, getting to them won’t be a walk in the park. You’ll face challenges such as deciphering number or symbol codes, locating specific keys, and even solving algebraic puzzles! If you find yourself stuck on a stash puzzle or want to ensure you collect them all, I’ve laid out the locations of every cult stash in Alan Wake 2 along with detailed solutions.
In Cauldron Lake, there are five cult stashes to uncover. While this is the game’s initial area, not all stashes are accessible right away—you’ll need to progress through the story by investigating the crime scene and advancing the Nightingale murder case to reach most of them.
**Accessible at the start:**
The mobile home stash is located just outside the mobile home itself. You’ll need to look for symbols based on the clues from a note above. Specifically:
– Wash your hands – bathroom sink
– Take chicken out of fridge – fridge
– Take a nap – bed
You don’t actually have to perform these actions; just find the symbols near the relevant items and use them to unlock the padlock. The combination for the mobile home stash is provided below, and while you’re there, don’t forget to pet the deer head!
**Accessible after the flood water recedes the first time:**
To reach this lake shore container, veer off the path and navigate under some fallen trees. It’s a straightforward challenge with a simple Simon lock—just match the order of the buttons that light up and beep. I’ve marked the necessary buttons on the map.
**Accessible after the flood water recedes the first time:**
This camp stash is located near a table and some camping gear, not far from the bridge leading to the Streamside area. Look for yellow arrows that illuminate under your torch to confirm you’re in the right spot. The box has no markings except for a lightbulb illustration, so use your torch to follow the arrows to find the streamside stash key. Grab it and use it to unlock the box. Both locations are marked on the map.
**Accessible after the flood water recedes the first time:**
The rock, rock, tree stash can be tricky since you need to find three simple sums painted on a tree and two rocks, with the second rock being easy to overlook. We’ve created a specific guide to help you crack this cult stash open with the correct padlock code.
**Accessible once you have the bolt cutters:**
Once you acquire the bolt cutters, you can access the final Cauldron Lake cult stash at the rental cabin park, but it requires a special key. The odd drawing on the stash box isn’t very helpful, but it hints at obstacles in the area that will lead you to the key.
Start by entering the unlocked cabin next to the stash, then head left and go under the fallen tree. Continue through the next cabin to reach a clearing, then look right for a rusty car. Shine your light at the trees, and behind the one marked ‘two’, you’ll find the Lake Cabins Stash Key.
When you first visit Bright Falls, there are no stashes to find until you complete the initial section as Alan Wake. Afterward, you’ll return as Saga and can unlock one cult stash. Keep progressing through Saga’s investigation and navigate through Watery to unlock more areas of the Bright Falls map, allowing access to all nine stashes.
**Accessible after completing the first playable section as Alan Wake and continuing as Saga in the lodge:**
The Elderwood Palace Lodge cult stash is tucked behind a truck and some crates on the road outside the hotel. Exit the hotel as Saga and head right down the road. Look behind the white box truck to spot the stash. This one is secured with a simple Simon says padlock, requiring you to repeat the flashing button pattern. Inside, you’ll find ammo for Saga’s pistol and the shotgun you should have after solving the shotgun padlock code, making it worth your while before heading to Watery.
**Accessible after completing the Watery chapter as Saga and returning to Bright Falls:**
As you make your way through the woods to the nursing home outside Bright Falls, you can unlock this easy cult stash with a Simon says lock—just enter the displayed code to gain access. I found some rifle ammo in this stash, which is for the hunting rifle you acquire by solving the door knob puzzle in the Wellness Center ahead.
**Accessible after completing the Watery chapter as Saga and returning to Bright Falls:**
To access the car and bike stash, you’ll need to solve a math problem for a three-digit code. To save you the trouble, the number of cars—and thus the code—is 1 7 7, but you can refer to my full guide for more details.
**Accessible after getting through the Valhalla Nursing Home chapter:**
After leaving the nursing home, follow the blue signs with white arrows through the woods—the painted yellow arrows will lead you in circles! Head south down the hill to reach the end of the route where you can collect the Bunker Woods Stash Key. Return to the stash and use the key to unlock it and obtain a single-use rocket flare weapon.
**Accessible after getting through the Valhalla Nursing Home chapter:**
For the cult stash deeper in the woods between Bright Falls and the nursing home, use your torch to follow a trail of yellow arrows. Along the way, you’ll encounter red triangular cult symbols that form the code for the padlock. This stash is particularly valuable as it contains another rocket flare, a flashbang, and more ammo for the powerful hunting rifle.
**Accessible after getting through the Valhalla Nursing Home chapter:**
The Ranger Station cult stash is located on the hill opposite the station. There’s a rather vague note meant to help you find the key for the stash. Simply head to the north side of the station and check around the stone chimney to find the key. Take it back to the stash to unlock it and gather more useful supplies for your investigation.
**Accessible after getting through the Valhalla Nursing Home chapter:**
The cult stash on the pier can be accessed with the bolt cutters, but you’ll need to figure out the three-digit code to unlock the padlock. The stash drawing suggests looking at the number cards on the poles in the water around the pier. By arranging the cards from tallest to shortest, you’ll discover the code 6 9 7. This stash is crucial as it provides one of several inventory upgrades.
**Accessible after getting through the Valhalla Nursing Home chapter:**
Use your bolt cutters to break through the wooden fence gate next to the Oh Deer Diner and behind the Sheriff’s Station to access this cult stash. The work log note contains vague hints about where to find cult symbols for the code to unlock the stash in Bright Falls Park. Head to the park and examine the satellite dish, flower bed, and gazebo in that order to uncover the necessary symbols, then return to the stash and enter the code.
**Accessible after gaining access to the basement of the Sheriff’s Station after getting through the Valhalla Nursing Home chapter:**
If you’ve collected all the other cult stashes while following Saga’s story, this should be the last one you need. You can only access it after speaking to the FBC agent and obtaining the Sheriff’s Station Keys, which grant you access to the basement to restore power. Head down and use your bolt cutters to enter the Evidence Room, where you’ll find a note with three shapes on it. The code corresponds to the number of lines or edges each shape has, so it’s 1 4 6.
From this stash, I found a flashbang, rocket flare, shotgun and rifle ammo (don’t miss the pump-action shotgun on the ground floor of the station), and the Lighthouse Key. It seems you receive this key from whichever stash you open last, so it may not be here.
Watery features eight cult stashes, one of which even contains a new weapon for Saga. They’re scattered throughout the area, from the main town to Coffee World and the lighthouse, though some can only be accessed after your first visit to the town, as the floodwaters need to recede like in Cauldron Lake.
**Accessible as soon as you get to Watery:**
As you follow your cases in Watery, you’ll eventually be directed to the Suomi Hiking Trail, which leads up to the Coffee World amusement park. Stick to the main trail path, and you might spot a stash high up on a ledge on the east side that’s out of reach. Keep walking up the trail, but watch for a path on your right that allows you to backtrack and reach the stash. It’s another Simon says lock, so just repeat the light pattern to access the contents.
**Accessible as soon as you get to Watery:**
Continuing from the previous stash, follow the main path until you notice the Break Room hut on the west side. Outside this hut is a crossbow shooting range, and you’ll find a cult stash under the wooden shelter. This stash is secured with a three-digit combination padlock. Check the number cards to the right of the shelter with the crossbow bolts to get the code numbers, then count the bolts in each card to determine the order—the code is 5 2 7. Enter that to unlock the stash and collect the crossbow weapon for Saga.
**Accessible as soon as you get to Coffee World in Watery:**
There’s a cult stash next to the Ferris Wheel, or Slow Roaster, in Coffee World. It’s locked with a three-digit combination, but the clue reads, ‘ONLY STRIPED CUPS’. To find the code, look at the numbers on the white-and-blue striped cups on the Slow Roaster. You’ll end up with 1 4 7.
**Accessible as soon as you get to Coffee World in Watery:**
The other Coffee World cult stash is located just behind the Huotari Well on the west side of the park. This one has a standard key lock and features an illustration of park mascot Mr. Drippy asking, ‘What hides behind the smile?’. To find the key, head up behind the large Mr. Drippy statue near Coffee World’s main entrance—on the map, this statue is roughly between the Espresso Express and Percolator rides. Check the left side of the statue to find the Coffee World Stash Key. Take it back to the well stash and unlock the crate to find some pistol and shotgun ammo and a flare.
**Accessible after going to the trailer park:**
If you’ve reached the Lighthouse stash, you’ve likely noticed a few triangular cult symbols with luminous yellow paint markings nearby. You’ll need to use these to enter the correct symbol code into the stash’s padlock. To discover the code, find the cult symbols with paint markings resembling Roman numerals. The triangular symbol marked ‘I’ comes first, followed by ‘II’, then ‘III’.
**Accessible after completing the Watery boss fight:**
For the trailer park cult stash, you’ll need a specific key that can be found nearby. To the right of the stash, there’s a pole with an electric box and a blue crate. Climb onto the crate and look at the top of the electrical box to spot the Trailer Park Stash Key. Grab it and take it to the stash to loot its contents.
**Accessible after completing the Watery boss fight:**
Before leaving Watery for Bright Falls, make sure to grab this cult stash located on one of the dock jetties. It features a simple three-digit combination padlock, but figuring out the code requires some algebra. To save you the effort, the code you need is 4 9 6.
**Accessible only once you’ve got the bolt cutters:**
The final Watery cult stash is in the Kalevala Knights MC workshop and has a code linked to the number of spare parts for the attractions in Coffee World. Count how many spare Slow Roaster Ferris Wheel cups, Espresso Express rockets, and Latte Lagoon boats you see around the workshop grounds. This will give you the code 5 4 2. Enter this into the stash’s padlock to gain access.
While there are useful maps and tips for locating and unlocking these stashes, keep an eye out for an in-game map that marks all cult stash locations. It appears quite a bit into the game, so it may take some time to reach. Once you navigate through Coffee World and enter the Kalevala Knights MC workshop, you’ll uncover the Cult of the Tree’s hideout and break room. Check the noticeboard on the back wall of this room to collect the information from this map. Cult stashes will be marked on your existing maps with black circles and question marks. Remember, it won’t reveal the solution to each stash’s puzzle, so you’ll need to figure those out or refer to this guide! Additionally, for extra assistance, visit Mayor Setter in Suomi Hall to collect their charm, which reveals nearby items and collectibles for Saga.
