Capcom’s short film teaser ‘Evil Has Always Had A Name’ is packed with enough horror to keep you on edge, making it tough to pick which mutant to be wary of first. This three-minute clip might just be one of Capcom’s finest Resident Evil adaptations yet.
I have a soft spot for the series of Resident Evil films featuring Milla Jovovich, even if some critics didn’t share my enthusiasm back in 2004. Those action-driven movies never quite captured the series’ gothic essence. However, ‘Evil Has Always Had A Name’ is a short film that dives straight into the atmosphere of dread.
In the film, Monroe and her daughter awaken to the chilling sounds of their neighbors’ screams. The Racoon Police Department ineffectively fires their weapons, and you can catch the entire scene below:
Then, keep your eyes peeled for him. You’ll have to look closely through the smoke of gunfire, but around the 1:35 mark, there’s no mistaking Nemesis. His silhouette looms larger than anyone else’s.
I admit it could be me mishearing, though. Many fans believe the giant polyp Nemesis yells “STARS!” during his potential Easter egg moment, but I didn’t catch that. Regardless, I’m excited to see Capcom revitalizing Resident Evil’s dark universe with ‘Evil Has Always Had A Name.’
During my preview of Resident Evil Requiem, I felt that the next installment could be one of Capcom’s scariest yet, and it certainly deserves the S.T.A.R.S. treatment.
Or as one Reddit user put it, “FIVE STAAAAAAAAAAAARS.”

Resident Evil Requiem offers “a different kind of replay value” compared to the rest of the series, according to the director: you can use Leon to bulldoze through zombies that you might find too intimidating to face as Grace.
