GTA 6 Will Launch with Physical Discs After All

A peculiar rumor surfaced online last month suggesting that Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive were planning to delay the physical release of Grand Theft Auto 6, opting for a digital-only launch to prevent early leaks. However, this is not the case.

During Take-Two’s Q3 fiscal results on February 3, CEO Strauss Zelnick directly addressed the speculation, stating that there was no cause for concern regarding the physical release of GTA 6.

“That’s not the plan,” Zelnick confirmed.

The rumor originated in January when a Polish site claimed that a Rockstar insider indicated a potential split between the physical and digital releases of GTA 6. This claim quickly gained traction, being reported across various platforms, including social media and gaming forums. The original, now-discredited assertion was:

“We are getting more and more information that the box version will not be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks.”

However, the rumor could not be substantiated by any credible sources. It always seemed questionable, especially considering that digital games have leaked through pre-loads in the past, as seen with GTA V over a decade ago. With Zelnick’s official statement debunking the rumor, fans can hopefully put this to rest and return to their theories about NPCs and their sunscreen SPF ratings through intricate math and trailer analysis.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with marketing for the game expected to kick off in the summer.
