The finale of Fallout season 2 just unveiled the blueprints for one of the series’ most powerful weapons, a detail that only dedicated fans might fully appreciate.

Spoilers for the Fallout season 2 finale follow.

In the post-credits scene of Fallout season 2, episode 8, we check back in with the Brotherhood of Steel, and things aren’t looking good. With internal strife brewing, Dane arrives to give their faction a much-needed boost.

He hands Quintus a scroll revealing blueprints for a massive robot, styled like a power suit, named Liberty Prime Alpha.

This isn’t just a flashy name; Liberty Prime has a storied legacy in the Fallout universe, hinting at Quintus fulfilling his ‘Destroyer’ title. Essentially, it’s a Brotherhood suit scaled up dramatically, originally designed as a pre-war weapon to end the Indo-American war and reclaim Anchorage from Chinese forces in Alaska.

Though technical issues prevented its deployment, the schematics made their way to the Brotherhood around the time of Fallout 3, nearly 20 years before the current events of the series.

In Fallout 3, players encounter the Brotherhood, who manage to reactivate Liberty Prime. The robot then helps fend off the Enclave, allowing players to initiate Project Purity and restore clean water to the wasteland.

However, Liberty Prime meets its end in the Broken Steel DLC. Not one to stay down, its parts are salvaged and, depending on player choices, can be used to take down the Institute in Fallout 4 or inadvertently destroy a Brotherhood chapter. It was presumed lost to the ages until now.

If Quintus has control of it, that spells trouble for everyone. Liberty Prime, at its peak, is equipped with powerful laser weapons and nuclear capabilities, making it a formidable force (though it’s unclear if the ‘Alpha’ version will feature the same arsenal).

With the Brotherhood in disarray, Quintus seems intent on either uniting them or wiping out his foes. There’s a strong possibility that factions like New Vegas, Caesar’s Legion, and the New California Republic could also be in their crosshairs, especially with Maximus involved and the powerful cold fusion diode in play. This shift transforms the Brotherhood from a secondary threat into a major powerhouse as we gear up for Fallout season 3.
