Another day brings another disappointment for fans hoping for remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The latest buzz stemmed from a countdown on the Fallout TV show’s website that began in January, set to conclude with the season 2 finale. Many speculated it would lead to an announcement from Bethesda, but the company wasn’t involved at all.
Instead, we were treated to a virtual tour of Edwin House’s opulent penthouse in the Lucky 38 casino from New Vegas. This is just another location on the Fallout Explorer map available on the official site of the Amazon series, offering some behind-the-scenes insights into the props and set design.
While it’s a fun distraction, it’s nowhere near the re-releases fans have been eagerly awaiting. At this point, any hint of news stirs excitement, fueled not only by the desire to revisit the modern Fallout games but also by comments from Bethesda’s Todd Howard, who has hinted that something might be in the works.
Unsurprisingly, fans were not pleased when their hopes were dashed. “Fell for it again award,” quipped one Redditor. “This just feels… stupid? They obviously knew people would get excited over a mystery timer just for it to be literally nothing at all,” lamented another.
“Honestly, it’s my fault for being a loser and expecting anything from Bethesda,” a fan on Twitter admitted. The community has started poking fun at the vague rumors and leaks circulating within the Fallout fandom.
“My neighbor’s cousin’s brother’s uncle’s dad works for Bethesda and she confirmed it,” joked a third Reddit user, humorously suggesting a surprise drop of Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that we’ll wake up to remastered versions of these classics, and it might be time to stop setting ourselves up for disappointment.
The studio behind Oblivion Remastered worked on Fallout season 2, so why not hand them Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters too, Bethesda?
