As discussions swirl around the potential pricing of GTA 6, with fears of an $80 or even $100 price tag, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed concerns about affordability.
Despite the lack of solid evidence fueling these fears, speculation has run rampant about whether Rockstar might set a higher price for such a highly anticipated title. While the notion of a $100 price tag might seem extreme, with Nintendo recently charging $80 for Mario Kart World, it has opened the door for similar pricing strategies.
In a recent meeting with investors, Zelnick emphasized the company’s commitment to consumer value, stating, “we do feel a compact with the consumer” regarding pricing. He further noted, “We’ve talked for a long time about delivering significantly more value than what we charge. I think we’re known for that.”
Zelnick reiterated that Take-Two’s focus is on entertainment, not just revenue generation, explaining, “Revenue comes from entertaining people.” He expressed a desire for “everyone to be able to engage,” highlighting efforts to make gaming more affordable and accessible.
However, this doesn’t rule out potential upselling strategies. GTA Online remains a lucrative avenue for post-launch revenue. Additionally, Take-Two’s 2K Games has previously introduced multiple versions of WWE 2K26, with higher-priced editions available a week before the official release. While GTA 6 might launch at a standard price, it’s likely that many fans would be willing to pay a premium for early access.
Take-Two CEO confirms that physical copies of GTA 6 will not be delayed to prevent leaks: “That’s not the plan.”
