Big things are expected from Avengers: Doomsday, according to X-Men star James Marsden, who reprises his role as Cyclops for the first time in two decades in the upcoming film.

“Absolutely,” the actor responded when asked if Doomsday will meet X-Men fans’ expectations. “I’ve been trained to keep quiet about this project, but you can definitely expect to be amazed, with so many new elements, and the Russo Brothers raising the stakes while Marvel delivers what everyone has been waiting for.”

Cyclops features in one of the four teasers released to promote the film, showcasing a dramatic moment where he falls to his knees, crying out at the sky with the X-Mansion in ruins behind him.

This marks Marsden’s return as Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, since 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, where his character met a tragic end at the hands of Jean Grey.

He won’t be alone in Doomsday; he’ll be joined by former X-Men co-stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.

In addition to the X-Men teaser, there are also trailers featuring Steve Rogers, Thor and his adopted daughter, and the Wakandans (with a cameo from the Fantastic Four).

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18. In the meantime, catch up on the rest of Marvel Phase 6 with our guide to the upcoming Marvel movies and shows.
