Borderlands 4 will continue to receive support from Gearbox Software, according to its parent company, which remains “very optimistic” about the looter shooter, five months after a launch that was initially described as “a bit softer than we would’ve liked.”

In a recent interview, the CEO expressed that “we’re still supporting Borderlands.” He added, “New content and updates are on the way, and we remain very optimistic about that title.”

This sentiment aligns with comments made during the company’s latest financial earnings call, where the president stated that Gearbox Software will keep delivering new content and updates for Borderlands 4, expecting the title to achieve strong sales over time.

This optimism comes despite some challenges since the game’s release. Just under two months post-launch, the CEO noted that “the release was a bit softer than we would have liked,” citing performance issues on PC that affected the looter shooter. Nevertheless, it broke several sales records in the US, including being the fastest-selling game in the series.

Additionally, the situation surrounding the delayed Switch 2 release remains uncertain. After being featured in the initial big reveal and later given an October release date, it was postponed for “additional development and polish time.”

Now, it has been disclosed that the company has “made the difficult decision to pause development on that SKU,” which raises concerns. A spokesperson stated, “Our focus continues to be on delivering quality post-launch content for players while optimizing the game.”
