Nintendo Direct Arrives to Boost Excitement for Switch 2
It’s that exciting time again when Nintendo gears up for a Direct showcase to reveal what’s on the horizon for the Switch and Switch 2. Tomorrow, February 5, the company will host a livestream to discuss upcoming titles for its hybrid handheld/console systems.
The presentation is set to last around 30 minutes, but temper your expectations for major Nintendo franchises like Mario or Smash Bros. This is a partner showcase, which means we can anticipate a lineup of third-party games rather than new releases from Nintendo itself. The stream kicks off at 6 a.m. Pacific / 9 a.m. Eastern.
So, what can we look forward to if not first-party Nintendo titles? With the enhanced capabilities of the Switch 2, it can handle a wide array of high-profile third-party games. Developers like Capcom are bringing some of their flagship titles, such as Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, to the platform. This opens the door for a variety of possibilities, provided developers are willing to make some adjustments to adapt their PS5 and Xbox games for the Switch 2. Personally, I’d love to see Overwatch 2 receive a Switch 2 upgrade so I can tackle my dailies on the go. There’s a long list of games we hope to see ported to the Switch 2, but it would be great to also discover some brand-new titles rather than just rehashing what’s available on other consoles. It’s been a while since we heard about From Software’s upcoming Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, so perhaps that will make an appearance in this Direct.
Whatever unfolds, we’ll be here to cover it all tomorrow morning.
